    Default Which Trolling Motor

I am new to trolling for Crappie.

Just bought a boat and the old trolling motor on it needs to be replaced.

I am looking for a new bow mount trolling motor for 18 foot nitro. 24 volt with about 60 Plus pounds

What all features do you guys like for trolling?

What features do I really need?

Which brand works best for you?

I am anxious to hear your feedback.

    Default Minn Kota Terrova

I'm in the same situation as you. Need to replace the old Minn Kota All-Terrain. I've had Motor Guides and Minn Kotas and I'm convinced the MK's are quieter (essential for "pushing" or "Spider rigging".) I hear the Terrova with AutoPilot is the way to go for trolling, so that is what I'm looking for. The built-in US2 puck won't work with either of my depth finders so I will have to tie-wrap the old transducer on (but can't attach that to the shaft due to the way it deploys & stows.) The co-pilot feature can always be added later if you want to go wireless. So my suggestion is buy one of the new Minn Kota Terrova's, 24V, 80#, with autopilot. Only don't bid against me on ebay. LOL. Good luck. The TM is a significant investment and can make or break your fishing success.

Minnkota with auto pilot. I've never used a Terrova but have heard a lot of good things about it.

If you may troll the Terrova with auto pilot is the only way to go.

Minn Kota w/ auto pilot. Make sure you get one with another thrust to keep your baits off the bottom in shallow water turns if you're going to be longline trolling.

I was fishing today in the hot, hot sun and though what a great thing it would be to sit back under the bimini top in the pontoon boat and control the trolling motor back there. I see one in my future.....

It is nice to get out of the sun for a few minutes. I love my wireless.
