    Default Humminbird 997

Ok, I finally broke down and purchased one of these units last weekend and I thought I would have it on the boat and ready to go by now! The problem is, I can't decide where to mount it! Do I want the unit on the console, do I want it on the front, do I want it portable? I just can't decide. Will the motot get in the way of the side imaging if it is not trimmed up (I do not have a jcak plate)?

If anyone has any recommendations that would be great!

You want it on the console. You will run about 3mph when you side image. I have mine on a 16' War Eagle. I think most guys with bass boats mount them on the jack plate. You do have to trim your motor up.

Don't mount it on the tm because you need to stay in a straight line when using it.

There are forums just for SI if you are a real techie.

Also, you mount it above the bottom line of the boat, not like a regular transducer because you need to protect it. It will be useless when you are running but that's why (most) everyone mounts it on the console next to their Lowrance.

On the console for sure-Make sure to mount transducer plenty high or you will have water down the back of your neck. At 3 or 4 mph you will have good water contact-top of transducer needs to be above bottom line of boat. My 2 cents!!

I have mine mounted on back of the boat. AS like everyone else. ITs better back there. Also have mine where everything works even at 30 MPH. The SI even shows up at 30 MPH.

Ernest, where did you get the shade for the SI. It looks like you might have had it fabricated somewhere.
