Default Odd feeding pattern this evening

I caught several. All small. But they only hit right when the jig hit the bottom. Not on the fall or the rise, but right as it hit. I have never seen anything like it. They were in about 3-4 feet of water. And all they would hit was a chart. curly tail grub with a red head. I thought crappie only fed upward so this was really strange. Only thing I could figure was they followed it down till it stopped then grabbed it. But still, very odd.

I've found the same pattern a time or two myself. One time they hit that way right after dark. I had to let the curltail fall all the way to the bottom, then drag it across the bottom and they'd hit it. Only the water was deeper, 12-15 feet. Couldn't figure out why they were hitting that way, but sometimes you just have to except it and catch 'em how they want to be caught I guess.

White crappie in particular seem to do this more times than we realize. I think they're feeding on some kind of larval hatch.

This worked well with the small Yum crayfish I was using. Bump it on a rock or bottom and let sit for a second or 2. Lift it off and forward and drop again. Kinda like jig and pig for bass
