Assuming you're using a slip float, a bead below the knot and above the back plastic insert should stop it.
I love to use 3# Fireline for jig fishing but can't seem to keep a float to hold because the thin dia. of the line or it cuts through the plastic stem of my float if I hang up & try to straighten hooks..anyone have any tricks?

Using a slip float 'smoothlures' answer is correct. If your using a clip-on (spring) bobber, just wrap the line twice around the bobber instead of just clipping it on there.
Caught so many fish today my thumb is sore from clicking the counter.
All I ever use is fireline and as stated make a couple wrap's around the bobber on the bottom and dont clip line on the top. Also when your line wear's on the end you're using pull it off and put worn end on reel first as you will have new line with no memory. With fireline you can jerk it into pretty easy but it is very strong on a straight pull.Hope this help's.
