i know this may sound alittle stupid to some of you, but i`ve never had a gps unit and i was wondering if you can follow a creek channel using one. i know you probably couldn`t go to fast. just curious

If your unit has maps downloaded in it you can at any speed.

I have followed creek channels from idle speed to above 60 MPH so bugman is correct you can at any speed you choose. Keep in mind the units do not come with the detailed lake maps installed so you will have to purchase that seperate. The easiest way to get the maps is to buy a pre loaded card and just put it in the slot on the unit and you are ready to fish.

Catman got to use my new 520c this past weekend that thing is sweet. Showed everything that was marked ans in the water all drop offs channel markers left the trails marker on showed me every where i went the next day went back to the same places followed the same trails didnt miss a thing going to really like that thing wait till i figure it out who knows what it will do lol good luck .

Next to a good FF, GPS are almost a must have. Such a valuable tool!!

I bought a lowrance H2O handheld GPS unit and MapSource 7 maps and love it. I purchased a handheld unit so I could take it with me on trails and in the car.

I love it......I just loaded Missouri and Illinois maps on a SD card and inserted it into the battery compartment.

You might think about this option.

Not cheap....between map and unit about $350.
