less of a bit today

i'm not sure if the fish are more tight lipped today or if i just couldn't find the color and depth to fish them.

we caught 3 small ones on a blue jig with white tail this morning.

this evening i stopped and got some minnows and didn't get a bit on them. i haven't fished with minnows since i was a little bitty thing and i couldn't keep them alive after hooking them.

i did catch 1 fish this afternoon that was over 1 lbs. and he bit a white marabou tail jig.



i'm mostly trolling, i just lay the rod on the floor of the boat and either drift with the wind or troll at a ver slow speed. i have problems getting the jigs very deep while trolling. i can't remember what size jigs i'm using but there fairly small maybe a 1/16 oz. or so. i guess i need to get some heavier jigs to get it down there.


the water temp on the lake was 64 early this morning and had warmed up to 67 by this afternoon. i've been catching most of mine in 4 to 6ft. of water fishing the jigs on or near the bottom. i guess there spawning right now
