High water spawn

I remember a time on LOZ, before Truman was in play, when the crappie got to spawn up in the bushes every year. A person could limit out in an hour or less if you kept your jig in the water. Whats your opinion? Do you think we would have a better hatch if they didn't pull the plug on LOZ, protecting Truman every year?
