spinning reels.
Maybe not the wright kind or key word.
Do you dock shooters use spinning, spin-cast or under-spins?
The reason I'm asking is, I have all the above. I've been trying to practice in my garage without too much success.
My garage is only 28' and it's kind of ,,,,, maybe ,,,, unproductive.
I watch these shows of people shooting docks with boat that are longer then my house. There shooting with all kinds of equipment.
Maybe this should be a poll.
It's not, but I'd love to hear your opinion.

spinning reels.
It's not a passion! It's A very bad obsession!
spinning gear. The trick is to load the rod and let it do the work. Do not try to throw, pitch or force the bait. Just let it happen. I like a 6-7 rod for shooting. Learned on a 5.5' rod.
Sponsored by my wallet!!
I use a spinning reel on a 5' BM rod

I pitch underhanded alot and occasionally shoot one if I can't get at it any other way. I generally use whatever's in my hand at the time. Hank Parker used one on a show of his, a 5 1/2 ft Zebco and said it was the easiest thing to learn on and the only pushbutton that he'll use. To each his own I guess. Practice outside into something about 30' away, just learn to get close for now. Refine it all later. IMHO.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I use an underspin

I use uglystick combo spincast 30 bucks bass pro and does pretty darn good.
Go to the link below and click on "video clips" tab. On the right, you will see a list of videos. About the 10th video from the top is one called the "bow & arrow cast". Watch it.
Although this is fly casting, the motion is very similar to dock shooting.

Check out some of the other casts as well. That guy is a GREAT caster.
Thanks fellas. With all the rods and reels I have in the shed. I should be able to make something work then.
