You can get very close. Trial and error of mixing different colors of stain and different topcoats. You may have to mix several colors of stain together to get what you want, but it can be done.
Our house was built in the mid 50's. We are in the process of restoring the original hardwood floors. Some of the original baseboards have been painted or is missing. The original trim is in good condition and was shellac finished many years ago. Can I, or is it possible to match the original finish? I am sure it has darkened over the years. I called the local cabinetmaker. He doesn't know.
Any suggestions?
Thanx,
Tom

if you take a sample piece to a GOOD paint store thay can match it pretty easy i do it all the time we have at least five paint stores in town but can only trust one for a good match

Cane. You should be able to take a piece of your trim to a paint store and let them match the stain.
