Nice looking knife, but that would be stitches waiting to happen if I used it with both sides sharpened like that.
found it at the flea market, solid wood handle, both edges are sharpened, I thought the tip made it unique, 5 bucks, what the heck.

I can only wish to be as good as my dog thinks I am

For 5 bucks I would have bought it whether I intended to use it or not. That is a nice looking knife and for that price it would be worth just laying around and showing it off.
For 5 bucks I would question the quality of the steel and the quality of the blade mount to the handle. Low grade steel will lose its edge very quickly and a poor quality mounting is an accident waiting to happen, especially with a double edged blade. Its a pretty knife, but its trouble waiting to happen. I have had cheap knives separate from the handle under pressure and was fortunate not to get a bad cut. I'd grind that back edge flat if I were you. If you can get it to keep a good edge and keep the handle from falling off you may have a nice knife there. I love knives. If I had seen it for 5 bucks I may have gotten one too.

Good things come to those who bait.
Looks like a Leech Lake fillet knife. They're on sale for $89.99.
Your right. That flea market knife looks like a cheap leech knockoff. Nearly identical design. I don't get the need for the back to be sharp though. Anyone know?

Don't know why you'd need the back edge sharpened? I have a question though. What is a good quality steel that will hold an edge real good? I'm looking for a good fillet knife with a blade length of 6 to 7''. Been using the Rapala which isn't bad but I bet there's something better out there.
Thanks.

I bought my father the Coho model fillet knife for Christmas. This thing goes thru Crappie like hot butter!
