View Full Version : Had a great visit with my son last week

Well just to update anyone interested my son is now in Florida working with SOCOM and since he's been there they have had him going to a hyperbolic chamber every day for a couple of hours. It has helped a good bit with helping to close some of his open wounds on his legs. Before this it seemed that they would just keep being a big time pain in the rear and would not close up.

It looks like he will stay at that base for at least the next 3-4 years. I think he is the lowest ranking person working for SOCOM at E6. This base security is different than the other bases he has been on.

He is at MacDill Air Force Base which in case you don't know is a mixed base and is central Command. It is in Tampa FL.

Here is a unit run down at that base...
MacDill Air Force Base Units
In addition to the 6th Air Mobility Wing, MacDill Air Force Base is also home to more than 50 Mission Partners, including United States Central Command and United States Special Operations Command. The presence of these two unified commands and other Mission Partners creates a unique multi-service community at MacDill, with all branches of service represented. So although MacDill is an Air Force Base, it is also home to many soldiers, sailors and Marines.

It is a beautiful spot to live right on the bay with a good view from his front door.

He still has a long way to go with the rehab, but he's getting better all the time.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support throughout this.

Thanks guys! He's been a little down over all that has happened, but I think he is on his way to feeling better about where he is. I know he didn't want to leave his unit near this fast as he has said that he would have liked to get at least another 5 years in. But now he just has to look at different opportunities since going back to his unit is not going to be.

It would be different if he was in his 20's or even 30, but at getting near 40 it would be too much to get back to that level.

Hey Skip, glad to hear he's getting better, though I'm not familiar with the chamber you mentioned. I do know the human body is a fickle fragile thing and even minor improvements are a gift. Take them one at a time. May God watch over you and yours and care for your needs, and a quick and healthy recovery.

Thats awesome Skip. Sounds like he is where he belongs. Too bad its so far from you though. I'm sure it must be hard, but I hope he is counting his blessings.

Skip keep him thinking positive. One of my good buddies lost a leg over there, he stayed positive and recovered quick. He and about a dozen others made they're rehab Physical Training (PT) fun. They got to the point to where they really looked forward to their sessions and everyone recovered quite quickly. Thank him for his service for me and I hope his recovery is a speedy one.

Thanks so much guys I do appreciate it!

And Scott some of the foot ball players have one of the chambers I speak of and it's used if a diver bets the bends. It makes him have about 2 times more oxygen that we normally have and helps healing faster.
