Danville's and Uni both make good threads. For smaller flies, I'd use 6/0 thread. They both make them, just pick what kind you think is best for you.
I mostly use Danville's 70 denier Flymaster 6/0 Waxed and Uni's 6/0.
i mainly tie large streamers and rabit hair spinnerbaits. i dont do many small flies cause i have regular thread and this box of 4 strand rayon i got with the fly tying kit i bought....where do you guys get your threads and what kind and sizes you use for the smaller stuff...thanks ahead of time

I love 6/0 Uni Thread! I think its the best thread you can buy.
cool thanks , gonna order me some and start working on lil stuff and see what i can come up with
Good luck, just remember to keep the thread as tight as you can without breaking it. It'll take some practice if you haven't worked with small thread yet.
First it sounds like you 4 strand stuff is more of a floss that a thread. Very shiny and used as a top color on the hook of a fly.Originally Posted by john h
I find Danville, Uni & Ultra thread all good. I like the Ultra waxed in 140 denier the strongest of that size. I use 210 Danville flat waxed best for jig for me. On flies I use a lot of Danville 6/0 Flymaster and Flat waxed. I like Uni to, but I buy direct from Danville so the price is best for me to go with them. The only time I buy unwaxed or Uni is because of a particular color I may want that I can't get else ware.
If you don't need small thread the 210 Denier Danville Flaw Waxed is hard to beat. When you tie wiht it it lays very flat and makes a very neat finish.
