New stuff for me to use making jigs, but I really like this better than any hair jigs I ever saw. I am a feather fan my self, but I will have to put some of these in my box. So what do you guys and gals think?

Looks nice - very nice. I have a question for you. I've heard guys say not to use marabou in water temps below 60 degrees. You're obviously a guy who ties alot of jigs and fishes marabou alot. I'd think marabou would outperform plastic in cold water. What is your experience?
Jim - Have boat - will travel.
The only thing I know that the cold weather has some impact on is soft plastics and Bass guys use to always go to pork trailers with jig in the winter. I believe that Jig & Pork catch a lot of big fish in the cold water.Originally Posted by drfishjd
I can't really imagine why marabou would be impacted at all by water below 60. I know if no reason for that. I don't think I ever heard anything like that.
I know this, back in the late 70's when i was a bass guide and after a cold front made thing tough we would always fall back to a black marabou with a short worm tail or no tail, but the black marabou would catch fish when nothing else would.

Skip, they look good, but the bottom one (the blue one) looks like the rabbit strip is on upside down. I know you can tie jigs any way you want, but all the rabbit jigs I've seen are tied differently than the bottom one.
Or maybe the angle is just bad, and I'm mistaken.
They are all tied on the same and I am not sure how I could tie them on the other side of the hook without putting the hook through the strip?Originally Posted by deathb4disco
Is this not right? I never tied any rabbit strips before so you tell me??

See the jigs here:

It looks like your jigs have the "skin" on the rabbit strip facing up whereas on Phil's jigs, they face down.
I don't know if it matters one way or the other to the fish. And again, maybe I'm just misreading the photo.

May God be with you. Keep CALM and STAY ANCHORED with your faith.
Your right, but my thinking was that from the fish view which would be from under or even with the jig they should see this tail and not the strip, but I don't know. Gonna check it out more for sure.Originally Posted by deathb4disco
All the flies I see are tied like I tied these with the strip on the top of the out side of the hook.
