When I was working there about 4 yrs ago Pfleuger was making most of them but there were some others made in China. Are you trying to find out what blank they use, If so the its mostly Pac Bay and Lami Glass but a few are made on Loomis Blanks.

I don't think its the who made thats as important as the where made. I know cabelas uses a lot of daiwa reels, but regardless of that all BPS branded rods and reels are made in China. Sometimes it hard to tell from the catalogs, but if you goto the stores its all marked - made in china. Its one of the reasons I'm excited about Ardent reels. They are the only reel maker exclusively made in the US. They are making some changes to the new spinning reel they are coming out with, but as soon as they get the changes they want made they are sending me one to test hopefully in time for this fall season, and when they do I will post a full review and progress reports. I am in pretty close contact with them about it. Fortunately there are still some US rod makers who haven't sold out, though St Croix is now selling a Chinese model, which irritates me. Bps has always been upfront about the mfg's of their rods and reels to me, but I haven't called them about it in a while since now I know its all made in china, it doesn't really matter to me who the original brands are.
Good things come to those who bait.
I understand that it's difficult to find some things made in the U.S., but if we don't ALL start to make a concerted effort to buy everything we can made in the U.S. then we can ALL kiss the middle class good-bye.
it may be made in the usa , but don't kid yourself , some of the parts are still made overseas and shipped here.
Here's what BPS said.
Abu Garcia, Daiwa, Pflueger, Shimano, and Bass Pro Shops bait cast reels are all made by a 'Parent Company' in China.
The Johnny Morris Elite Reel is basically the exact same reel as the Shimano Citica. So why the extra $100 for the reel?
The lady did go on to explain that each different reel company has their own quality standards that have to be met, and that is where you find the variation in the different models by company. She then went on to say that the Pflueger reels don't compare to the Shimano, Garcia, or Bass Pro Shops reels from her standpoint as a quality control specialist.
