    Default Christmas early

Got my 787 in yesterday, haven't got it out on the water yet, but
did spend awhile out in the garage playing with it on simulator last night.

So far I'm pretty well impressed with it, really easy to get around the menus
considering all the things it can do. The built in map even showed my
little community and a couple of watershed lakes I didn't expect to be on it.
Of course it leaves a lot to be desired on the big lakes, but I was expecting
to buy a Navionics card later anyway.

I propped the gps antenna up in the windowsill, and it locked on and I mean QUICK - but then I've been used to a 10 year old unit.
I was a little surprised how good a fix it got just looking out the window -
Metal roof doesn't let anything through that way.

One thing concerns me a little, I was doing some rapid-fire button pushing
    going through the menus
getting aquainted with it, and managed to lock it up five or six times.
But I push buttons for a living (CNC machinery), so I'm used to using all four fingers + thumb like I'm typing. Would not shut down or anything, had to cut off the main power switch(on boat) and then start
it back up. Kinda gave me flashbacks of a fellow I used to fish with
who had one of the top of the line Hbird combo ff/gps units back in the late 90's... It locked up every 10 minutes or so and you had to snatch it off/on the mount and turn it back on to unfreeze it. I made a conscious effort to slow
down on the button pushing a bit and it did not do it again. We shall see
    I guess.

Hey I know that you will love it. I got the 997 a few months back and am still learning how to use it. I have a hard time seeing pvc and boo on S I ing but picks it up well when going over the top of it.

    Good Luck

Gonefishing, Try bringing in your sides to 50 ft or less and slow your chart speed to 3. When you see something look more at the shadow cast to get a mental pic of what it is. Also mine seems to work better between 2.5 to 4 mph. Hope this helps!
