    Default transducer interchange ?

Does a Piranha 15 and the 787 use (or can they use) the same
dual-beam transom mount transducer? I THINK so, but...

Thinking about ordering a 787 from Cabela's sans transducer to save
a few bucks - I have one transom mount already, and built in one in
the MinnKota that I'm not using yet. I want to be able to swap units from front to back according to where I want the better unit, by just unplugging and switching places with the two. Thanks, Jeff

    Default

I do that with my eagles. 320 and 480 use the same transducers. If i want the best picture while trolling with my TM, i'll move the 480 to the front. Wont show speed there but neither does the 320.

    Default Yes, same transducer

    Jeff,
Yes you can. These both use the same DualBeam same transducer. If you bought a 787c2 now, although the transducer is shaped differently it is still the same electrically. This is due to a change from one design to another.

Question How about the Matrix 87c & the 585c

I have a Matrix 87c & a 585c. It is my understanding that they both use the "Dual Beam" transduscer. Can I swap them? Also what is the advantage of the Quadrabeam transducer?

    Default Yup

Sure you can Wiskers. The 585c units were shipped with the same XHS-9-20-T (or more recently the XNT-9-20-T) transducer that the Matrix 87c units were shipped with. We use only one element inside of our 200/83kHz transducers to produce both transducer beams. The 585c only makes use of the 200kHz frequency while the Matrix 87c uses both. Saves us from having to produce two different transducers which helps keep our (and your) cost down and makes it harder for us here to get the wrong transducer in the box when we are packing it.

My Matrix came with a TM transducer & the 585c came with a transum mount. I've been wanting to move the Matrix to the dash and now I know I can. I may leave them where they are though cause I'm getting a 997 or a 797 when I get off this ol'towboat.
