    Default Lowrance (Card Reader) Help

I need some information from a computer tech person explaining how a card reader works. I would like to download updates to my Lowrance H20c. Thanks in advance!

Just plug it in and your computer will see as another drive. Then you can just download to that drive (with a chip in it). If it doesn't show you when you plug it in go to Start/My computer and you will see a new drive called "removable disk x" x being whatever letter your system assigns it.

Do I insert the Navionic chip? Or do I insert a blank chip?

Depends on what you want to do. You might want to practice with a blank chip until you become familiar with it. You don't want to accidentally erase the Navionics chip. Download the waypoint management program from Lowrance and just practice manually entering waypoints and then load them on the GPS. You can do the same with the GPS by creating waypoints, save them to the card, then manage them with your computer. When you get comfortable working with them you can save your real waypoints on the Navionics card and then be able to use both in your GPS at the same time. I don't use that program from Lowrance as I use Map Create but hopefully someone else does or can recommend another program for you.

OK, as long as there is room on the card you can save them on the Navioics card. I believe they will load automatically when you put the card in your GPS. But I'm not 100% sure of that. Put your Navionics card in the reader and you can determine how much room you have left on it.
