Same here...cats been coming of the bed...haven't a clue on crappie when the 40# flats are wanting to play.

can not blame ya there, so I take it that you are tearing them up in the spillway? If so what are you catching them on:p :D I would love a 40# to come play with me.:D

You can catch alot of crappie on the normal summer type patterns right now on Smithville but the only problem is that you may have to catch a few hundred fish to find a limit. Lots of 8 1/2 to 8 3/4 inch fish in the lake and they are everywhere! I have tried deeper, tried shallow, I have tried just about everything I know to find the bigger Crappie but so far no luck on any sort of pattern for bigger fish.

I did catch a 6 lb channel cat the other day on a 12 foot slow trolling rod -- that was quite the trick to get him landed!!
