    Question Using Snap Swivels

As I was getting ready to put my boat in the lake the other day there were two guys pulling theres out. I asked them how they did and what they were using. They showed me there poles and they each had very small snap swivels attatched to there lines so they could swith out there jigs. That made me wonder if many of you guys do that or if you just tie on a new head if you want a different color. I understand doing this while trolling but these guys were using 1/16 ounce heads and 1.5" curly tails.

Do any of you guys/gals use these small snap swivels also or do you just tie on another head if you want one?

I dont like them to much junk on the end of the line....it takes Me the same amount of time to tie a knot as it does to get that little wire to unhook from the catch in a snap swivel anyway.

I would never use a snap swivel for jigs.

Jigs no, crankbaits yes. But different strokes for different folks.

    Default no

no snap swivels on jigs, and just plain snaps on crank baits.

Only time I don't tie on a lure is when I'm after toothy critters like pike, then I use a steel leader with a snap on one end and a swivel on the other. Everything else I tie on.

I tie it straight on. Try using a loop in your line and doubling it together and pushing it through the eye of the jig and around the jig and pull tight to change out jigs really quick. I may make a post on how I do it sometime.

    Default Snaps-NO_NO

I use tube jigs and only change the skirts. Do not have to re-tie.

I use snap swivels almost all the time. I have them in all sizes and do use them with jigs. The downside is to remember to check the line often for wear, whereas when you tie on directly you are constantly trimming back the wear on the end of the line. And, I need to state, I am not a believer in snap swivel or no snap swivel makes a difference in your fishing even though I skunked an anti snap swivel friend years back with both of us using same style curly tail jig in a match (he still will not use a snap swivel- LOL). My thought is fishing success depends on location and your confidence in your methods.
