N/Central area, I'm getting alot of crappies in about 10+ ft. All still have eggs, mushy and soft. I don't think there was much beding and spawn this year due to high winds & rough water during May. At the same depth I also get a big-bull gill here & there. In tight, mostly small stuff. Even picked off a 15 inch eye on the flie. LM Bass also crusing around in the shallows . One strange thing since Apr. I have caught some whopper perch (12") in tight and in very shallow water, and I still am seeing some in the shallows? Look for the weed beds out, 10-15 ft. and you will find the bigger fish.
Fishing has been a little weird this year so far.The cold fronts, and hot warm ups has made the spawning ritual to be delayed this year by about a month. At least it's been a little fun to find patterns that work.
Thanks for your report!
I'll be in NW Wisconsin till a week from Sunday.Work and fish....work and fish.Sounds like my way of life!:D :D
