How are you rigging those ???
Went out to Okatibbee with Wayne this morn for about 3 hrs and I caught my biggest from that lake this year, 1-14 ozs., which is a pretty good one for Okatibbee, had 23 with 4 over a lb. Broke a new, 3 weeks old, 12' B&M, took it back to Walmart and got a new one and when I got home and was stringing it up discovered a bad eye, no insert, will have to go back to town. First one I have broken. While in town stopped by Hudsons and just had to pick up another quart bag of Kalins twister tail grubs for $2. This was the best color today, have to shorten/modify it as shown. Thats my new bag of grubs.

Thats a 1/8 oz jighead with a big hook from Walmart our only tackle store here and a 1/4 oz weight with a rubberband doubled thru it. I first put on the weight and then the jig, the purpose of the rubberband is to be able to run the weight up and down your line and now scar the line, works fine. The weight helps keep the lure straight under the rod tip. I'm slowtrolling or tightlining which ever you call it.Originally Posted by doghead82

Steve
I am curious as to your reasons for the weight above as opposed to dropshot method with the weight below the bait.
Thanks

I really don't know why I use this set-up except until this year my main method was 2 poles in my hands with only a jig on my line just hovering over cover. Then I bought a 4 pole trolling bar, started moving more and with just a jig but saw that I needed more weight to keep it straight under the front and being an old basser had used the rubberized weight with a Texas rig worm so I adapted that to my crappie slowtrolling. I have used the drop-shot or Ky rig and just liked the weight above better, think the bait has a little more freedom.
