All good info. I have used all of the BGJPs from 8 to 12’. Workhorse is a good name for them and the way I fish. I have vertical jigged, cast a jig and cork, pulled everything that can be pulled, and I’m still using em. I’m not gentle with them and they do take a beating, within reason. The weights Rees spoke of are spot on. I have used them with a one ounce weight but it was a bit much. I use a 3 way swivel, a half ounce weight, and pulll jigs on aborted lines instead of longline. This works very well for me and the rods load just a little. The older model 8’ rods are a little firmer and work a little better in a one pole scenario, and trolling too. The newer ones have a softer tip.
