These were already in place on raccoon lake last year.

If you go here, DNR: Indiana's Reservoir Habitat Enhancement Program. Go down to the paragraph that is titled PROJECT LAKE SCHEDULE. DNR and Indiana Bass Fed. is building fish habitat for several lakes as well as IBF is buying bass and releasing them. If you look at the lake map for Monroe, in this area they are dumping all the fish attractors is one of my crappie hot spots I long line jigs and crankbaits all along those creek channels from point to point. Personally, I question why DNR would choose this area of Monroe for propagating bass and not spreading them out. Also, all of the attractors will be placed in this area. These fish attractors will be more to benefit crappie than bass in my opinion. Download the maps for Mansfield and Monroe. In that Monroe area, my best crappie 3 yrs ago was 17.5 inches on the break of the creek channel cranking during the springtime as there are also stumps scattered here and there.

Right! I just wanted to post the map again. Quite a difference on how they scattered fish attractors on Raccoon vs their logic in placement at Monroe. The area on Monroe can be rough to fish as I never see anybody fishing the middle of that Bay Area due to the fact, when the wind blows even at 7-10 mph, the wave action is high no matter which direction it blows from. DNR article comments they are scattering the attractors in a 174 acre area as that is a very wide open bay from point to point is about 1/2 mile wide or more and from north to south is more open water. Personally, I think it will really make the crappie fishing awesome in that area as I have picked up a lot of nice size crappie in that area taking a beating in the waves.

I don't fish those waters but thanks for the link. interesting to see how you benefit from them.
I fish that area often. Glad for the added attractors, but I too wish they would spread them out a little more.
one thing about them is I haven't seen anything about the SIZE of them If there small then it would take a lot of them to make a good attractor, IF they have some size to them then they could spread them out more. Either way they've got to help.
smiles are contagious, spread them around

curious can you see the attractors during winter drawdown
No as they don’t draw it down but maybe a couple of feet if that. With the 3 plus inches of rain we have had the past 24 hrs, back up it goes for now. They are placing all of them in 8 to 12’ deep water as that huge bay the bottom is flat except where the creek channels are. Those 15 to 20,000 dollars worth of fish attractors in 170 acre area will definitely benefit the crappie!
