Some of their first rods had a titanium tip that did not have a insert. Maybe you got one of those.
I bought an Ozark Rod Company 10' rear seat Tony Edgar signature spinning rod today.
I noticed that the tip guide does not have a black insert like the rest. The guide is rounded and smooth like it might not need one, or did a careless customer smack it against the ceiling and knock it out?
I'd rather not return it, the store is 40 miles away, and this was the last 10 footer they had. I can buy a replacement tip for less than the cost of gas.

I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

That sounds like what G described. That's the good guide according to the guys who have fished them for years. Newer version has different guide.

The end guide does not have a insert in it.... various reasons one so it doesn't pop out when knocking a hung jig loose....

I put it to work tonight. Gotta say that I really like the length.
Thanks for the info.
I have a pair of 16 ft signature series and they don’t have a insert in the tip I always wondered if they were replacement tips since I bought them on eBay but I guess that is the way they were made
