im new to crappie fishing and was looking at some units at cabelas today.im pretty much overwhelmed. im a spider rigger and will be pushing and fishing over brushpiles. im not sure what i need to buy for a unit up front. i want a unit that can tell me trolling speed, help me return exactly to brush piles i find or place.i was looking at a Helix 7 Chirp DI G2 it has Chirp Sonar and down imaging. Thoughts?

i do not want a unit that has the long transducer as i will be mounting to trolling motor. is it the side imaging that has that type transducer?
The DI unit trans diver when you get new unit, do not take transducer out of package, contact hummingbird and get a RA number and exchange the transducer that comes with it for the one designed for trolling motor mounting. It has more shielding built in for interference and is shaped to fit motor housing. Yes gps is what you need for marking and returning to waypoints.
As long as you send it to them unpackaged they will swap it out
