Just saw this and found it interesting. Might finally be an answer of sorts.

Seems logical for smaller lakes. Mississippi River, not so much .
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing
If you could take 90% out it would be back to present levels in a few years
Won't work on big lakes that have access routes to them via locks. Would only work on small lakes that get the carp from river flood overflow into them ... but, even then they're subject to being flooded now & then, so you could be back to square one on the small ones, anyway
We need the commercial fishers to get $0.50/lb for them, then pass that cost on to China ... or tell them to catch & eat the ones they already have in their polluted waters. The only reason we can sell them to China is because they're favored over the ones they have in their own waters (because ours taste better). I think we're paying $0.15/lb to the commercial guys, then selling them to China at $0.45/lb ... pretty slim profit margin, which is why many processing plants are switching gears and turning them into fish meal, fertilizer, and Omega-3 products.
Interesting read. I'm sure this method could clear up many smaller bodies of water. Thanks for posting
What is needed is a viable market for the carp. If there was a good market for the invaders, then the population could be controlled. I doubt the carp will ever be eradicated. Too many wildlifers sitting in the donut shop daily is a problem too. My guess is that the wildlifers have all been neutered and they just want to sit and sip.
