Default when to longline instead of power trolling

their about the same thing...longline gets the bait farther from the boat.....power trolling allows tighter turns for following contours.....
When to do one over the other, or is it personal preference, .....or as always, fish's preference???

power trolling is easier than long lining if you fish alone . Also those that don't have a remote control trolling motor can stop to net fish that fish alone without baits getting tangled . jmo

Not so sure I understand... what’s the difference? Is power trolling the same as spider rigging?

I would suggest that the area you are fishing and how the fish are relating to the structure are the driver factors on which technique to use.

Power trolling is basically "pushing/pulling" jigs with heavy weights & at speeds greater than when Spider Rigging.

Hmm... does that have to be done from the front of the boat?

No blood, no foul Sorry if that came across as kinda terse, my friend. As you can see I answered on my phone ... and I can't type worth a hoot on it, so I try and limit my words.
