According to Barry Morrow at the Crappie University class I attended this week, he uses Gamma. Can't remember if it was 6 or 8lb test but it was high vis.
Hello: Going to try dock shooting this season. I'm going to use a 6'6 medium action spinning rod. Wanting your advice on line. Braid ? Mono ? What lb. test do you use .Will this setup work good ? Good Luck . O - R

It will, but it will probably work better at "shooting" if the tip is fast or very fast action. That action "shoots" the jig, whereas the parabolic bend of some "medium action" rods tend to "catapult" the jig. I've used both types and seem to get a little better distance and skipping action out of the faster action tips. I've always used mono, and started with 4lb test ... now I'm using 6lb test hi-vis Vicious and it's working very well. I'm also using a 6'6" rod ... ESP PowerLite (very fast action tip).
Use 6lb hi-vis nanofil. It shoots great but you have to make sure you use the correct knot. It's kinda expensive but I can spool three reels with 50 yards apiece if you use a mono-backer. It shoots like a dream and has very little stretch.
