Looks like some fish are already on it waiting to be caught.
Took a quick picture of one of our shallow water brush piles. Hoping this becomes a pre spawn staging location as they get ready to go to the shallows flats. Hope I understand their pre spawn behavior with this expectation?

For sake of discussion What if I told you that isn't structure????
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

correct you are Gomer .... that's "cover"
("structure" is the bottom depth changes, channels, and general lay of the land under the water)
But, in his defense .... most people use the term "Structure" to mean most anything coming up off the bottom, whether it was put there by nature or man.

Well, I learn something every day on this wonderful forum. I thought structure was in line with the following definition: “something built or constructed, as a building, bridge, or dam.”
In this case it is a “Crappie condo” comprised of bamboo concreted in concrete blocks. Notice I did not say cement as there was sand and gravel in the composition (smile). My real focus is temporary habitat for my preferred fish. Love you guys!

I think in fishing terminology .... a "structure", like your definition implies, would be something above water (on land). And you also have the equal terms of "habitat" & "cover" ... meaning basically the same thing. Probably why a lot of people use "structure" to mean both cover/habitat & the structure of the bottom (drops, channels, etc).
Six of one, half a dozen of the other as far as I'm concerned.
I'm willing to bet it holds some good fish soon....
I call that "put'n that work in" and it does pay off....
Some of my best days have been in boo in a 5gal bucket with the boo in a spray that covered at least 8' wide. Several of these in 14 fow and the fish just flocked to it in the warmer months. Anything added to it within 100ft also acted like a satellite to it, also holding fish. That one spot, which I didn't create, taught me more about successful habitat than anything before or since. I went to another similar area and put in oak and pine branches in buckets and while they held fish it was never as good as the boo. 10 to 12 sticks, 10' long, spread out evenly around the bucket and an 80lb bag of crete was how these were made. I did meet the creator in later days while fishing during the week. 3 buckets were in the place I speak of and 4 cedar trees were on the one side. As the boo rotted down years later it still held fish but never like in it's glory days.
