Keep em out of sunlight for sure , i discard them if they get too faded or have a dull appearance.
ive noticed my plastic jig bodies are losing the sharpness of there color. do you guys still use them when this happens? what can be done to make the last longer? im trying little plastic bags like they came in hope it works.

I'm still using jigs I bought back in the 70s and 80s and they still catch fish as good as the new ones I have.

I've found that the heat is the biggest problem with soft plastic. I stopped and fished a point for bass...I know, I know last weekend and the jig bodies I pulled out were kind of seperating from the plastic from the color. I've had them for a long time. Although this was happening it didn't seem to be that big a deal so I fished it anyway. The problem was more fluctuating temps. over a couple of seasons rather than the jig actually being old. Bringing them inside and keeping them out of the sun will help too. I hope that somewhat answers your question. That is not a scientific answer either so I could be wrong...
I don't know, get some crawfish oil and give em a spray.....DemoMan
I think the sun is what does that. I know I have some that are 10 years old.
I know my plastics have been in the house, but they are drying out anyway....DemoMan
Heat and sunlight will ruin them for sure. I keep my tackle box inside in my closet and I don't have any trouble keeping plastics for a few years.
i have some that are going on 20 years old. they are really faded, but still in good condition.
Cody.
Sunlight will fade them and melt them in the summer. Different makes will fade differently as well. Have some Mizmo tubes that faded bad but also have some Bass Pro tubes that hold up pretty good. CF
