I am 57 years Old and Retired,,,, Lets go Fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
If you are talking the sidescan they are nice, I have only been out once with mine and its still a learning curve. I have a 797, cheaper and a smaller screen than the 997. But still as good as the high dollar one. I attatched some pics that I snapped with mine. One is of a ceder tree, the other of some xmas trees. Like pipeliner said visit the yahoo group there is a ton of helpful information and people

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night will keep me from crappie fishing!

If your talking about the side imining units?
There worth every Cent, If you will learn how to use them. But you do have to learn how to use one. its not going to just hook up and you know it all.
I have the 987c-SI and you can bet if something happens to it. I will sure buy one again.
Here is why I love one.
I am continually amazed at what I have found that I have looked for for years. Roadbeds and old bridge abutments and river channels. etc There is no substitute with the versatility and options of one of these units. I have the 797 and the only caveat is you give up alot of fishing just to look at the world below.

Bttmline, I just got a 997cSI last week. I got it installed on my boat and just had to go to the lake to try it out. These things are simply amazing! If I had of known just how good they really are, I would not have waited until now to get one. Pete is right though, you have to be prepared to spend some time to learn how to operate and learn what it is showing you. My 2 cents worth is they are worth EVERY penny of what they cost.

Average cost is?
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!
The 997 units are around $2,000 and the 797 units are around $1,000. They are high dollar, but worth it.

Man do I ever want one bad! Going to have to put some money in the piggy bank on the side for next year.
I ran a 987SI for the last 2 years and have a 997SI sitting under my desk for my new rig coming in a couple weeks. Its the best hunting tool Ive ever seen. The options and features they keep coming up on them is outstanding. Not to mention the new screen on the 997 almost puts the 987 to shame. You wont regret it on bit.PJ
