How 'bout this. Freeze them. Then during a slow bite period take them with you to the lake and put them in the fish basket. When a boat comes by saying how bad the fishing is... hold up the basket. They will think you are the crappie King.
Every time I clean a mess of crappie I look at the skins that I have filleted off the meat and think - these have gotta be good for something.... then I throw them out. Anybody do anything with their skins??

I thought about covering a canoe with them. Just seem to pretty to just trash. My cabin sits on the banks of the Alabama river and we have found lots of arrowheads and pottery- I bet those Indians didn't waste fish skins. Wish I could ask one of them the same question!
