Get the garmin echomap series in the largest screen size you can afford. The maps are pre-installed and very nice 1 ft contours. No need for sv on trolling motor so get the dv or cv and make sure it is a chirp model
Smaller transducer and comes with trolling motor mount so it saves an extra $20

There are times when shooting docks and when trying to stay on a school of crappie that are chasing shad when I had side imaging on the trolling motor. They don't always stay in one spot, especially when chasing shad. I ended up having to use the side imaging on the back of the boat to stay positioned on them, but it sure would have been a lot easier on a trolling motor where i could just swivel the transducer to find them. Kind of a "poor" mans 360 imaging.

My only unit is a Garmin 93sv Chirp. It's on the TM. I'm in a jon and fish elec-only lakes mostly. I definately like having sv on the TM. No negatives for me. As advised, the biggest screen you can afford/deal with, etc. Chirp for sure.

I have Lowrance up front on trolling motor, down scan nice, I have Garmin on console, down, sideways nice, garmin comes with pre loaded brush piles for most mo. lakes. I just dumped them to an sd card then installed them on the lowrance

I like my Garmin Striker 7dv up front. DownVu, conventional sonar and GPS. SideVu transducers are large, DownVu not so, better for a TM. And I mount mine in a Transducer Shield & Saver.
I have a Garmin EchoMap 73sv at the console, excellent!
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.
