Default USE WHATEVER STRANG U WANNA

A lot of heated debate over fishin line going on. That's what they make 1000 kinds for. So u can pick what's right for your application. Grab one and try it and see what blows your skirt up😀
    I can't, I'm fishing.

I remember back when you had a good choice. You went down to the old country store and he had the old black nylon line that everyone knew as catgut line. He also kelp a couple of boxes of blue looking mustad aberdeen hooks one small size for bream and a larger size for catfish and bass. Most of the time you could just pick up a couple of old used wheel weights out front of the store to flatten out with a hammer and cut that lead weight to what you needed. My Grandparents always dipped Garrett snuff so I always had plenty of corks that were in the big bottles of snuff. Most people that had a reel and rod it was a baitcast (no thumb bar you just used your thumb to hold and cast it) and heavy fiberglass rod filled with guess what that old black cat gut line. Everything about fishing has came a long ways after those days. I bet a lot of you older fishermen remember this also.
Be safe and good luck fishing

I remember a lot of that Scrat. Dad used surf casters that were what you described on steroids. Dacron line still has it's place.

You're right, Skeet .... in fact, I have 17# test Cortland Dacron braid on one of my long rod reels. And you know what ... it's from the mid 1970's
It was a spool I bought to string up my 10' & 12' collapsible poles, that I used to dip a minnow/slipfloat into the Button Ball Bushes of Lake Barkley. Even used some of it, a time or two, for night fishing for Bass ... back when the only night lights were "Moon Glows" (pre-UV blacklight times).

I have an old steel rod with orignal Pfluger reel that came with it. The rod is octagonal and the bait caster has a wooden spool. The guides were wrapped with stainless steel wire. I don't use it but it is functional.
