This is twice this year already. I live in Fayetteville and I know how much it helps.
As most of you know, Jordan and Falls of the Neuse lakes were created for flood control downstream. I realize places like Smithfield and others are seeing record levels on the Neuse, but imagine what it would be like in those cities and places like Fayetteville if those lakes were not holding back huge amounts of water.
A lot of you know my story about how my Grandfather back in the '70's had to sell his farm for Jordan to be created. All the landowners fought against it. Downstream flooding was the main reason and it is good to see that the efforts and planning back then is working out to help reduce the amount of water reaching those affected areas. The charts below help tell the story. There is a lot of serious flooding, but it would have been much worse if not for those two lakes.
