Them fish need a break. Nice catch.
The conditions were terribly unfavorable weather wise and I almost said never mind . I took a half day off though anyway on Friday and we went after them . The all week pattern of a south wind and hot weather went to a north wind chilly and rainy in one hour early Friday morning . About lunch time it started to look almost possible to go and my buds kept after me until I said ok ok ok already , but it probably isn't going to be all that great .
Silly me forgot fish don't care what the weather is doing and don't get a weather forecast . Sure enough the local fall pattern was still in play and we smoked them quite well . I would have probably cancelled and almost did if we took my boat for sure.
So keep in mind this yawl , never say never and in the end don't cancel if you can stand the conditions .
We found crappie at every stop and managed a few other fish along the way as well . As always I hope everyone enjoys the read and photos .
Some presentations seemed to be better in one spot than others and I have no idea why that was . I would guess maybe different food sources in some spots maybe ? I used feather jigs ,big jigs and little jigs and got bit on almost all of them with the exception of solid chart and that was a surprise in those conditions to me as well .
stay tuned and stay after them ....one can never be sure till one drops a jig ya know
and YES the captain is sporting one of them super fine bright red Fle Fly caps as well ...

Good catch. The cooler weather has turned them on down here also.
its an invasion here around dfw ...they are everywhere ...deep shallow and all points in between and they bite different things in different spots
under docks , on timber , on bridges , on brushpiles ....and some are roaming open water but we don't target the roamers ...
wish I had a solid answer but I just pitch at them till I figure whats best and start hurting lips .....
