Could be a setting that needs adjusted or could also be thermacline.

The pictures aren't great, but they'll give you an idea, I hope. Got a Humminbird 688ci HD DI combo. Was cruisin' around in 7-12 fow and every time the water depth got to >10' or so, I'd see these "weed beds" that came up to about 7.5' down.
I got really suspicious when I was in 18-25 fow and saw "weed beds" coming right up to that 7-8' down mark.
It just shows all this "clutter" from 7.5 down to no matter how deep it goes.
Is this a sensitivity thing?
Top picture isn't blurry, but it also doesn't show the clutter very well. Turned the flash off for the bottom photo and it shows the clutter but it's blurry.
Anyone seen anything like this before?

Thermocline?maybe but I wouldn't think so n Smithville. interference from trolling motor ?
A gun, like any other source of power, is a force for either good or evil, being neither in itself, but dependent upon those who possess it
From an old movie I saw
That's what my 859 looked like with trolling motor interference
Did you try turning off the trolling motor to see if it stopped. Try looking in the Electronics thread in the forum?
3rd ,,,,,, Turn off the beer cooler.....
Looks like interference, had the same problem on mine. I put the electronics on it's own dedicated battery and problem gone. I think a thermocline would look more like a line across the screen and not extending down to the bottom.
Might be cross talk between 2 graphs on the boat set at the same frequency..Have to be in deeper water before they cross each others beam.. If you have another graph on the boat make sure it isn't on DI at the same time as this graph.
Showing mph, appears transducer is on back of boat. Do you have 2nd unit at console with transducer in hull ? Definitely interference, and with depth stated it appears so. Mine shows similar from trolling motor mount to transom with depth equal to frequency settings. In other words, bottom coverage compared to depth. It does reflect.
Definitely interference. You can still get a MPH reading without having the transducer on the back of the boat.
True. I assumed at 3mph he was scanning from console and not trolling motor.
