    Default Behind the dam

Went below Truman dam this weekend despite them shutting off the water. Found the crappie biting on minnows using slip bobbers and between 6-8 ft deep as far as I could throw it. Caught a couple large catfish as well, those were quite a surprise. Also a few whites were mixed in as well as gar. Had to weed through a bunch of tiny crappie to find a few keepers to bring home. If you go, bring lots of minnows, as the tiny crappies will steal all your minnows. Throwing back 5 inch crappie gets old fast. I tried jigs of all sizes and colors and my other rod rigged with the minnows was doing much better. Anyone doing any good up on the lake side?

Thanks for report! One thing about it sounds like you stayed busy. Haven't fished the lake since a week ago and bite was pretty decent on summer pattern on flats but they were scattered but pretty nice size wise.
Been pretty quiet on here report wise from Truman past few days. Heading back down Wednesday, also hoping to hear some new reports on the lake.

You have to remember with the number of people fishing an area that small the proportion of quality fish goes way down.
