    Default Shakespeare Fishing Tackle

Thanks to a recommendation from our friend, Outdoor Writer and Photographer Keith "Catfish" Sutton - http://www.catfishsutton.com/ - Shakespeare has put both Darryl and me on their Guide program. They sent us each enough rods and reels of our choice to completely outfit our boats at no charge.

I chose all Ugly Stik rods - 10' Crappie Poles, 6'6" Light Action Spinning Rods for casting and jigging spoons and 7' Medium Action Spinning Rods for trolling crankbaits. I chose Agility reels for my Crappie Poles and Light Spinning Rods and Line Counter Reels for the trolling rods.

I've done several trips now using the new tackle and so far I am very happy with it. The Crappie Poles have a little larger eyes than the ones I was using so our bobber stops go through them better. We've been catching some 5 to 7.5-pound hybrid white bass on the Light and Medium Action Spinning Rods and they've handled them real well. The line counter reels are great for knowing how far back our crankbaits are running so we can keep them staggered properly and get right back to the desired distance after landing a fish.

    So here's a big
    THANK YOU
to Mark Davis, Mark Shealy and Shakespeare Fishing Tackle for outfitting me with quality fishing tackle!!!
    FISH ON!

    Jerry,

I've heard super reviews on all the ugly sticks. You might check out some of the postings on the South Carolina board.
Rango, in particular, has an ongoing challenge to any that board the beast. If they break any of his ugly sticks while trying to land a fish, he will buy them a case of "amber". So far, no one has gotten any of brew. And from what I understand, it isn't for lack of trying

There also was some other talk about them coming out with a 12' pole..not sure what that was about, but might be worth looking into.

Anyway, it sounds like Keith has once again come through with a nice deal. Glad you guys were hooked up!

Shakespears website has a *NEW* 12 foot crappie rod listed. They did not give a price. The BPS in Savannah does not carry any of the Shakespear crappie rods so I gotta do some searching to find them.

Yes, most definitely agreed. My equipment came in yesterday and I will be rigging it today. I know I am going to like the durability of the Shakespeare Ugly Stick product line.
Thank You, Keith Sutton, Mark Davis and Mark Shealy!

Slipcork and others that might be interested, here is a link to their whole product line -- http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/products/index.php

They make a Crappie Hunter Rod - http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/p...ducts.php?p=54 but I was concerned about the eyes being too small for a slip float rig (I want to try these next year for a jig pole), so I went with the Ugly Stick crappie pole (USCR10) for strength and durability. For my trolling rods I went with the USSP70ML. For the casting rods I chose the SPL1100. - http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/p...gly_2007.shtml

As for reels, I got the Inspinity and Synergy with the front drag for the crappie poles and casting rods. - http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/p...ducts.php?p=14 and http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/p...ducts.php?p=16 - and the T15LCL Tidewater Conventional Baitcaster with line counter - http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/p...ducts.php?p=32

I have also ordered some Cajun Advantage line - http://www.cajunline.com/PRODUCTS%20ADVANTAGE.html - which is their long lasting UV resistant co-polymer. I'm looking forward to trying this new line out.

Again, thanks to Shakespeare. This product will be used most every day and we will certainly put it through its paces.

O.K. guys, they look good. Did they tell you where the rest of us can buy them? I like the 13ft rods.

    Darryl,

I have used the Shakespeare cajun line for two years and I really do like it and my clients that I have taken out fishing have been impressed with it also.

    Hi,

Grizzly Jigs has the ugly stik crappie rods...You can do a search on any search engine and find the website....They are around $35 at grizzly jigs...Catfishconnection.com has them for I think $29.95...Not totally sure on that price.....But, I couldn't find them listed on the website...So, I ordered a catalog...But, I do know they have them...Also cabelas has some of the shorter models on clearance for $22...Hope this helped you out slipcork..

Here's the link to the "where to buy" and you choose your state - http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/where/index.shtml

Here's the one for Arkansas - http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/where/arkansas.shtml There's some retailers in Benton and in Little Rock. If they don't already carry what you want they should be able to order it for you and save you the shipping cost.
