Husband got me a lure a couple of weeks ago he thought I could use on our vacation trip to Canada. Well I tied it on last weekend and the crappie went crazy for it. I caught two for husbands one and he was using two rods. It is a Cotton Cordell minnow bait. Problem is it only comes in the assortment boxes they have at the stores. The lures are only $1.96. Emailed the company and the lure is only available in the assortment boxes in retail stores. They get cheap lures mix them up and send out to stores. So I guess every time I am in Walmart I will have to check the box. Husband did find another in the box and bought it. The big bluegill liked it to. Have a similar lure ordered now.

I have also caught a lot on the Cordell super spots in the smallest size. They use to have a color called "smokey joe" I believe it was...sort of a natural shad color with a bleeding gill. I think it was the vibration on the smallest one, tried the larger ones and just did not get the bites like the small one. Was a dynamite bait for trolling for crappie. But it wailed on fish of all types. Had real small hooks though and I use to hang into big fish with that thing and was hard to boat them. Tried changing hooks but must have changed vibration becuase would not get bit the same.
Take it with you to the store and find some Berkley Flicker shad. Basically the same bait and will give you a lot of color options.
Fish like your hungry!
Just shows to go you that they won't shy away from a big bait.
