WOW !!! That is a nice bunch of fish ya got there, looks like fun. Good going...
These were all caught on a "BRIM REAPER" http://www.blueribbonlures.com/ my buddy's dad makes them and they are unbelievable when the bluegill and redear are spawning. I'm mainly a bass fisherman, but I love nothing more than loading the boat w/ redear/shellcrackers!

A tip for using them is to put a little superglue on the bodies and they will last twice as long and the fish don't mind at all.

You definetly loaded the boat! I'd hate to clean all those.
That guy makes good items. I bought a bunch 5 years ago and am just now
going to have to buy some more. Thanks for posting his link.
Very nice, caseydrew. If you got a fly rod, you can duplicate that BRIM REAPER with a Gill Getter fly. If you want the Gill Getter to go deeper and act like a jig, just add a beadhead. See links below.

"Flip a fly"
Don't have a fly rod, but I used to use a bait that looked very similar to yours when I was a kid. I would put a small split shot about 8 inches up the line and drag it slowly through bluegill beds. Worked pretty well....
Where were you fishing? Was that this year?
The pics are from KY lake from several years ago. I catch a lot more now that I've learned where to fish in late April through mid May. When the bluegill are spawning you can probably catch 125 - 150 p/ person in about 1/2 a day if you know where to fish w/ jigs. As for the redear.....late April and early May a good morning would be somewhere around 30 - 40 good ones p/ person (limit changed last year to 20 p/ day on KY lake).Originally Posted by mrwillis
If your looking for a place to strictly fish for bluegill I don't know of anywhere better than Reelfoot for numbers and size though. KY lake gills don't come close to comparing and you don't have to be familiar w/ the lake to catch a bunch.
WOW!!!! I never knew you could catch that many in KY lake i fish there quit a bit but never found gills like that. Way to go
Now that looks like fun but I wouildnt even attempt cleaning all those fish without one of these.
