For a less permanent solution, rub a candle on the male end of the ferrule. The wax will help hold it together.
I got a new outlaw 7' 2 piece rod recently and it keeps coming apart about every 50 casts.
Would super gluing it together permanently be a bad idea or is something else I can do to keep it together?

Thanks I'll try it. That's an old bow hunters trick I forgot about. Bowstring wax on threads keep arrows from loosening from pionts

I have two two-piece rods which were super-glued and now are one piece. On one I tried a few different tricks and when they did not work, I super-glued it. No problems with it coming apart since. The other I super-glued the first time I reeled up the tip piece after casting the jig and the tip section into the lake. I seldom take my other two piece rods apart to transport them so there is not much difference in them and the others I own.

Hello: If this is a new rod I would return it. If not new glueing it would be my last resort. You bought a 2 piece rod for a reason. I would add a coat of varnish or some kind of finish to the male end to make it tighter. Might have to give it more than 1 coat. Good Luck O - R
Actually I hate 2 piece rods for just this reason. All the dealer had was 1 7 foot rod left and he gave me 15% off.

As disco said...use a candle. You can also buy ferrule wax. This is common even in 500 dollar two piece rods...guys with thousand dollar fly rods use ferrule wax to keep them together. Using a candle or ferrule wax it won't come apart until you pull it apart. I would just barely rub a very small film of candle wax and be done with it. All I own are 2 piece rods and I use a candle on them and they never come apart.
