    Default fishing decks

I just recently got new boat and the paint on the aluminum decks is starting to flake off. I want to strip it down and repaint. I want something with a little grit in it for traction. I re did my deck last year with whats called deck correct by cabot. I have about 2 gallons left over. Do you think something like that would stick to aluminum or any products you have done it with and liked.

Aluminum must be primed, either with or without the paint, to have paint adhere. I have heard of folks using muriatic acid in a solution to etch the surface before painting but don't know any more than that. Whatever you use must be designed to adhere to aluminum or it will come off in a year or less like mine did when I did one of mine years back. Scotchbrite pads are commonly used to remove the flaky stuff. Sanding works but will create thin spots in the metal. Friends used to redo sailplanes and that was what they did. Do your homework now or you will revisit the project.

The interior of my boat was done in Zolatone. I really like it.

    Regards
