Just find and fish lots more spots
We fish at a small lake and we always catch nice crappie but..... I can never catch more than one or two in a spot and 5 or 6 in a day. I have to move till I find another spot but never can catch more than a few in that spot. I use minnows and jigs. sometimes from the bank and sometimes in a boat. any ideas? other than I don't know what I'm doing...

I have the same outings as you do. But the fish I do get are some very nice quality fish. I usually don't use minnows, most often use plastics. Have lately been using hand tied jigs, have also been tight lining. More poles in the water = more fish. I know I don't know as much as everybody else but I keep trying and I think that's the key. I have never kept a journal till late last year. I think that would be a big help to keep track of what, how, where and when.
Just some thoughts

I am guessing that is normal, except when you are lucky enough to be fishing in a blitz. Maybe you haven't been lucky enough to hit a blitz yet. I am extremely rookie, but had a time or two when the fish bit every time I presented lures in the spot...for a little while. Same thing for bream, too.
Sounds to me that you are on the right track and remember every trip is a learning experience. Keep fishing and trying different techniques, follow and learn from this site and success will come I gar un tee.
Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.
Have you tried to sweeten up your success by putting cover in the lake you fish? A few brushpiles or stake beds will concentrate the crappie and should make your success rate go up. You might put "bucket beds" in the search and check out how to do those. If you have a boat and 24 hour access to the lake, I would put them in at a time the lake is not being used as much by other fishermen. Once they hit the bottom, they belong to everyone.
Crappie fishing is what you are willing to make of it. A little effort will pay huge dividends.
