    Default Sun Crappie

    This morning met up with a friend for a day of crappie fishing in a small lake in Deltona.
    Went to a friend of his's home where there is an idealic small lake right out the back door.

    Picked up the friend's son Jessey, who proceeded to show the both of us what the art of crappie fishing was all about.
    Out of a total of 22 fish I believe Jessey caught 14, Jody-5, me-3. But, being a most gracious host Jessey let me and Jody have em all, of which we split em down the middle.
    While out on the far side of the lake Jessey showed us the local Eagle family, mom and pop and two healthy young ones.
    I managed to get a couple pics of one of the adults.

    And an adult with the nest.

    And finally a picture of my friend (Jody) and Jessey with the total catch.
    On Jessey's side are the eight Bluegill we (they) pulled in fishing around the dock.

    It was a great morning, great place and great company.
    My most heartfelt thanks to Jody and Jessey for having me over.

    We spent most of the time out in the middle to 50 ft from shore slow trolling. Depth was approx 8ft, we were fishing approx 5ft. At one point we got up next to some lillie pads, not any big difference, picked up a couple three.

    Chester;
    This lake is one of dozens of small lakes found around the Deltona area. There are houses, or, private property all around it/them.
    I asked my host if others fished it and he sayed yes but they had to put in over at "Mike's house", so, I went no further with my inquiry. It is a fairly small lake, six boats would make it look crowded. He never called it by a name.
    And Deltona is just north of the big daddy lakes of Monroe and lake Jessup.
    I enjoyed my day there but think I'll be heading back to my favorite lake (Harney) next weekend.
