I am using 12ft. now and mostly spider rig with 8 poles from the front. Thinking of changing, so which is best fourteen or sixteen ft.? And why?

I am a fan of 14 foot rods. 16 foot rods are a little much in my opinion as far as controlling them while fishing. I have currently been using 14 foot Southern rods for around 6 months and absolutely love them. They have a very good back bone and are sensitive. The rods have also have took a beating and are still going strong. The Southern rods are fairly cheap. Your rods are like your "tools" and it all boils down to personal preference and what you feel comfortable with. If you can make it to the Grizzly Jig show in January, it is an awesome opportunity to get your hands on some great rods and see what feels the best for you.
SouthernCrappie 14's if you do any fishing by your self. 16's get awful hard to land fish by yourself.

Boat size makes a difference too, boat under 18 I would stay with the 14s, just easier to handle any way.
