Good lookin Crappie hound!
Pretty decent day for my Shih Tzu hound and I. Put in at Coffman fairly early and had a limit around noon. They were hitting early....then had a cold spell...then they turned on again. Mostly blacks with a few whites mixed in.
Method of the day: Slow falling and reeling up jigs in wells, casting jigs over brush. Had several that hit the jig on the drop.
Jigs: White Puddle Jumper on 1/16 or 1/32 oz char head, and blue ice Slab Slayer on 1/8 oz weedless head.
Tackle: 10 foot pole with 6 lb hi vis mono, 6' 6" light action rod with 6 lb hi vis mono.
Other observations: Talked to a characteristic ol man who caught a limit of white bass on wind blown points with a 1/4 oz rooster tail. I did not have any rooster tails but did throw a beetle spin but only caught two more crappie. I did throw a crank bait for largemouth bass on points wo any luck. I was jigging in a boat well and someone was shooting a laser pointer, I assume to annoy me. Great day, weather was awesome!

Good lookin Crappie hound!
Glad you found them. Thanks for the update bet you will enjoy them.
Love them black slab. They should be moving in with this cold front coming this weekend. Nice pictures and report.
good report, sounds like a good day for man and beast...
Wow that's great news. Glad someone's catching some nice ones. I've had horrible luck catching quality fish on the Lower end of the Big Niangua. But last weekend was slightly encouraging. I caught a ton of fish, basically same pattern as you. problem was between Saturday and Sunday, I would have only boated 5 fish over 10". And probably not many more than that over 9". But the 8" fish were abundant and stacking on top of brush and in wells. I was alternating between 16th & 32nd oz jigs. junebug/chart color seemed to be the best.
I did hear a report of a couple of boats catching some nice slabs on the bridge pylons, not sure which bridge they were talking about, but they said they were in 30 FOW so I assume maybe the hwy 5 bridge either over the osage or Big Niangua.
Oh well, going back this weekend for more punishment! Good Luck all!
Great report with a great description.
Lazer targeting would not be taken lightly by me. I would take that as a serious threat.....
Very cute dog.
