Nothing in Idaho but Taters
I think in idaho Crappie are considered a trash fish. Everything there is Trout and Walleye and Salmon.
Yah, they love there planter trout, steelhead, salmon..... (ill fish for them, but not my favorite fish to eat)
Sturgeon fishing in big, but cant keep any. They seem to love there catfish too! (& thoes guys like to use the spiny rays/pan fish as bait.)
But there are quite a few guys like me that love to catch & eat Crappie, Perch, Bluegill...
& yes, Crappie are considered Non game fish & there is no limit on size or quantity.... Is it wrong that I feel that there should be limits on them here? xxxxx me off to see guys that catch hundreds at a time from 3" & up just to use for bate for sturgeon & catfish!

No way I would use crappie as bait. I would much rather eat crappie over catfish. Except for maybe flathead.

Makes for a poor fishery when crappie can be kept without limit on size or quantity. Its a shame to be so wasteful of such a tasty critter and a darn good little fighter.

3 inch crappie are sometimes best used as bait rather than thrown back.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
