I have a 9.8 that I would like to get just a little more hp out of. Another mile an hour would let me plane. Anybody got any ideas.

Do you know the rpm your motor is turning at WOT? If you are in the lower end of the operating range, you may be able to go to a lower pitch prop to get the rpm and speed up a little. Talk to your local dealer about this before trying it.

Going to a stainless steel prop may help some. Moving as much weight forward as possible and trimming the motor (moving the pin) up as far as possible may help too.
Diet and exersize.
Good things come to those who bait.
Oh Grizz, That hurts. And thanks to you other guys
Grizz, LOL!
Far as the motor goes I think you could maybe only gain 1-2 mph by any method unless you're way off on the pitch of your prop
Ya ain't holdin' your mouth right.
rejet the carb and tighten the rod bolts.
I've found that adding sta-bil to the gasoline adds a bit more speed to my 9.9
A lot of guys in this area change over to 15h.p. Carbs to get extra punch. I don't know much about it but I know it can be done.
