Be careful what lake you put the boat in. Only some of them are allowed any form of motor.
I am headed to the mined land area this weekend. Does anyone have any tips on what the best pit to fish is this time of year? Should I take my boat or bank fish? Live bait vs jigs? I have been there a few times but I have never found the crappie. I'm not looking for anyone's secret spots, just some advice so I don't come home empty handed. Thanks

That must be new. I've fished down there a lot and never seen any motor restrictions.
Ok. Year ago I watched the warden dealt give it to a guy who had a kayak with a grilling motor a really hard time. On the pond just south and east of the one with the trout.

I don't know the pit numbers but as I recall if you go north of the corner of nw 110 and Lawton there are boat ramps on both sides of the road. This is straight north of the trout pit. Had decent luck in both those pits. Also did pretty good at the Brutus pit a time or two. Did all my fishing from a boat. Haven't heard any reports from up that way yet this year.
I know exactly what pits you are talking about Bob. the pit on the west side gets pretty windy at times but the one on the east is always nice. What do you recommend for bait?
If u have a boat go fish bone creek full of black crappie.
